How My First Ever Wedding Shoot Made International News.

Embarking on a career in wedding photography at the age of 18 was a bit of an adventure…. Looking back, it's hard to believe how far I've come since that very first wedding shoot. Before we dive into the photos, I want to set the scene and offer a little disclaimer: while these images hold a special place in my heart, they've also been a testament to how much I've learned over the years.

A Humble Beginning

My inaugural venture into wedding photography was alongside my good friend, Sean. We were both 18, eager, and perhaps a bit naïve. The couple we had the honour of photographing were Kayleigh and Richard, who were a few years older than us. Their wedding took place at the picturesque St John's Church in Halesowen, followed by a reception that was nothing short of lively.

A Learning Curve Like No Other

The experience was intense and filled with lessons. While Kayleigh and Richard were thrilled with their photos, looking back, I can pinpoint areas where my approach has evolved. It's a reminder of how far I've come and the continuous journey of growth in this profession.

From Local to Global

What truly astonished me was the journey these photos took beyond our immediate circles. The story of Kayleigh and Richard's unique connection and wedding day was picked up by several media outlets, across the UK as well as in the USA, Greece and Thailand - among others.

A Nod to the Past

As you browse through the photos from that day, I hope you see the authenticity and emotion that I strive to capture in all my work. It's been a journey of growth, and every wedding - starting with Kayleigh and Richard's, has been a stepping stone in refining my craft.

Thank you for taking this trip down memory lane with me. If you're planning your own wedding and resonate with the candid, storytelling approach I bring, drop me a message through my Contact Page, I’d love to chat about your big day.
