2025: A Year of Rebuilding, Refining, and Falling Back in Love with Wedding Photography

If I’m being completely honest, this time last year I felt a bit lost.

Photography itself was never the issue. After 15 years as a wedding photographer, that part has always been a strength for me. But creatively, I had burnt out. I was busy and consistently working, but I was exhausted, drained, and struggling to manage my workload in a healthy way. Something wasn’t clicking.

Looking back now, I can clearly see that while my photography was strong, I had neglected the marketing side of my business. Over time, that neglect started to catch up with me. I knew my business was at a crossroads. Either I committed weeks, possibly months, of focused effort into reinvigorating everything, or I risked falling out of love with wedding photography altogether.

So I made a decision to rebuild properly.

Starting Again With Intent

With the help of a mentor Sam Docker, I stripped everything right back and started again from the ground up.

I spent time refining my photography style and getting brutally honest about what I love to shoot and what my couples connect with most. The warm tones. The relaxed, personable energy I bring to a wedding day. Being a calm, experienced presence who knows when to step in and when to disappear. Most importantly, the emotion that runs through my images.

I stopped trying to be everything to everyone and instead focused on what feels most natural to me.

Once I did that, my work felt more consistent, more confident, and more emotionally honest than it ever had before.

A Full Wedding Photography Rebrand

Once my style was clear, the rest followed.

In 2025, I completely rebranded my wedding photography business. New logo. New colour palette. New fonts. New website. Everything was redesigned to reflect the work I actually produce and the experience I offer couples.

I built a brand new website that showcases my portfolio, wedding blogs, and client area properly. It finally feels like a true reflection of my approach to documentary wedding photography rather than just a place to park images.

Behind the scenes, I also overhauled how clients interact with me. I upgraded every contact point to make the experience seamless and professional, including WhatsApp communication and a dedicated client management system. Contracts, payments, invoices and receipts are all handled in one place, making the process simple and stress free for couples from first enquiry through to gallery delivery.

Adding Drone Photography to My Wedding Packages

One of the biggest upgrades I made this year was adding drone photography to all of my wedding packages.

I completed the necessary training, insurance and accreditation properly, so it is all done by the book. Drone photography has added a completely new dimension to my storytelling, especially for venue shots and landscape driven weddings. Used thoughtfully, it enhances the narrative of a wedding day rather than distracting from it, and couples have absolutely loved seeing those images included in their galleries.

A Year of Incredible Weddings

Alongside rebuilding the business, 2025 was an amazing year for actually shooting weddings.

I photographed weddings all over the UK, worked with brilliant venues and suppliers, and made genuine friends along the way. One huge personal highlight was becoming a recommended wedding photographer at the Black Country Living Museum, which means a great deal to me both professionally and personally.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, bookings took off in a way I never quite expected.

I am now fully booked for 2026, including destination weddings in Croatia and Slovenia. Writing that still feels slightly surreal.

Looking Back on 2025

This year has been hard work. There were long days, late nights, and moments where the scale of what I was rebuilding felt overwhelming. But it has also been one of the most rewarding years of my career.

I feel aligned with my work again. Energised. Excited. Proud of what I am creating and how I am running my business. Most of all, I am incredibly grateful to every couple who trusted me with their wedding day during this chapter.

If there is one lesson I am taking from 2025, it is that sometimes stepping back and rebuilding is exactly what you need to move forward with confidence.

I genuinely hope 2026 brings all the love, health and happiness for you and your loved ones - and if you’re looking to book your Wedding Photographer for 2027 or 2028…
