Grace & Karl’s Fun-Filled, Untraditional Wedding in Bromsgrove.
You know those weddings that don’t follow the rulebook — but instead, feel completely and totally them? That was Grace and Karl’s day. A laid-back, laughter-filled, family-first celebration right in the heart of Bromsgrove and Redditch — full of personality, good vibes, and zero pretence.
They skipped the pomp, embraced the fun, and filled their day with meaningful moments, local stops, and bangers on the dancefloor. It was a total joy to photograph and the perfect reminder that weddings don’t have to look a certain way to be absolutely brilliant.
A Relaxed Morning Split Across Redditch & Bromsgrove
Grace spent her wedding morning tucked away in a bright and cosy Airbnb in Redditch, getting ready with her bridesmaids, her flower girl, her mum, and two little furry sidekicks (yes, the dogs were very involved). It had that lovely calm-before-the-celebration energy, with lots of giggles, glam, and a few emotional moments thrown in.
Meanwhile, my second shooter Jamie met up with Karl and his crew at a local bar on Bromsgrove High Street. Suits, nerves, beers — all the good stuff. Having the two of us there meant we could tell both sides of their morning story, and the contrast between the two always makes for a richer final gallery.
The Coolest Limo Entrance & a Kiss at the Desk
Grace made her arrival at Bromsgrove Registry Office in style — cruising up in a pink Hummer limo (yes, really), turning heads and setting the tone for the day ahead. They skipped the traditional aisle moment, instead sharing a kiss right at the desk after she walked in, which felt totally authentic to them.
One of the sweetest moments? When their little boy, who’d been apart from Grace all morning, saw her for the first time — his face absolutely lit up. Little reunions like that always get me. No matter how many weddings I shoot, those are the moments that really stick.
Confetti, Group Shots & a Big Yellow Coach
After the “I dos,” Grace and Karl stepped out into a whirlwind of confetti from their friends and family — that just-married energy was electric. We captured some group photos right outside the registry office before everyone hopped on a coach to the party venue, Number 3A in Bromsgrove.
It’s always nice when everyone’s travelling together — the vibe on the coach was part school trip, part pre-party. Just good fun all around.
Burgers, Speeches & Dancefloor Legends
Number 3A was the perfect backdrop for their laid-back reception. No stuffy seating plans or formalities — just good food (hello, burger lunch), great company, and loads of time to chat, laugh, and celebrate.
The speeches brought a mix of belly laughs and misty eyes — my favourite combo — and then it was time to dance. Grace and Karl shared a first dance that had everyone swaying along, followed by a few handpicked tunes they dedicated to special people in their lives. And just when you thought it couldn’t get better, guest DJ Joe Hunt hit the decks and dropped an hour-long set of absolute bangers. The room was buzzing.
Real Moments Over Traditions — And Why That’s the Best Bit
Grace and Karl’s day was a reminder that weddings don’t need to be traditional to be meaningful. They did it their way, and it couldn’t have suited them more — local venues, personal touches, relaxed timelines, and a dancefloor that stayed full till late.
My approach to wedding photography is always natural, relaxed, and storytelling-focused — and days like this are where it shines. Real emotions, real laughter, real love.
